My first trip to The Catlins solely for photography wasn't until around 2017, a few years after I had began my landscape photography journey. I had seen countless NZ landscape images of a beautiful place called Nugget Point, and I just knew I had to get there to see it for myself.
The Catlins is a region is in the southeastern corner of the South Island of New Zealand, and is well known for its rugged coastal landscapes, waterfalls, and dense forests.
It is a popular destination for photography, as the natural beauty of the area provides many opportunities for capturing stunning images of the ocean, cliffs, and wildlife.
Photographers can also capture the unique culture and history of the Catlins, which is home to a number of small towns and villages, as well as the remains of early European settlements.
Some popular photography spots in the Catlins include Nugget Point Lighthouse, McLean Falls, the Cathedral Caves, and the Purakaunui Falls.
Although I have a lot more to explore in the Catlins region, I have blessed with beautiful conditions each time I visited and on my last venture down there I was able to capture Purakaunui Falls to add to my NZ Photo Print store.
I can't wait to return with my camera to explore other locations and add to my Catlins Photography gallery.
