Viewing New Zealand's mountains from above is something I think everyone should do once in their lifetime. Whether its out of a commercial plane window or on a bespoke scenic flight, there is nothing like seeing these incredible ancient formations from above.
New Zealand Aerial photography all started from me on my second trip to the South Island New Zealand back in 2016. I was lucky enough to be taken up in a scenic plane which covered Queenstown's Mountains, Mount Aspiring National Park and the Shotover Gorge. I was hooked!

Since then I have experience New Zealand Aerial flights over Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, Westland National Park, The West Coast, Queenstown, Wanaka, Fiordland, Nelson Lakes and Kahurangi National Park just to name a few.

I then purchased a drone which took my New Zealand aerial photography even further and I use my drone almost every time I shoot now.
​
This land that has been shaped by volcanic activity, glaciers and tectonic plates over millions of years takes on a whole different perspective from above and it has been incredible to take my New Zealand landscape photography to a sky high level.
​
Some tips for when you photograph out of a plane .. wear dark clothing so as not to reflect on the windows, use a high shutter speed (1/500 and above), turn on your auto focus!
​
