The Hawkes Bay is a stunning part of New Zealand situated on the east coast of the North Island. Well known for its award winning wines, it is also home to some incredible New Zealand landscapes including Te Mata Peak seen here. My first time photographing the Hawkes Bay area for landscape photography was actually my first time visiting the region entirely. I am not sure why it had taken me so long to come to this beautiful part of New Zealand, but I wish I had been a lot sooner!
On my first trip to Hawkes Bay I only had one location in mind, and it was a fairly famous. I wanted a Te Mata Peak sunrise .. I'd seen some incredible landscape images from Te Mata Peak and really wanted my own take on this beautiful location. Although I had to wait a while for the sun to break through the clouds, when it finally did I was able to capture on my most favourite Hawkes Bay landscape images to date.
My second road trip to the area was to expand my Hawkes Bay photography portfolio and try to capture a few different locations. Unfortunately the weather was not on my side for the most part, but I did manage to make a Waimarama Beach sunset which I was super happy with.
I have since returned again to Te Mata Peak and was treated with beautiful foggy conditions in true Hawkes Bay style.
